Two young boys just jumped out of a moving train that was taking them and other deported to a concentration camp. Starts then a long escape, lasting two days and two nights, sparkled with pieces of memories. Exhausted, tired, they ask for some bread to a country woman...They end up being chased by a group of German reservists...
This narrative skeleton based on a short-story by Arnost Lustig only creates some basis to higher intentions... It is human beings inner life – or hunted game – that unfolds here. Fevered and oneiric visions, the hallucinating imaginations of the “heroes”, its conscience stream, constitute the real “body” of this work of art. Where do dream and hallucination begin? How to savour memory? Where do reality and imaginary meet, where do they diverge?
By living this cinematographic poem, we will once more discover that boundaries between our lives and life on screen rarely fade. This time on, we become ourselves the thought and the body of this experience of a deep and black beauty.
